This is a truly incredible project thanks to the relationship between the designers and the client who is a committed art collector. Her interest in art created by women is reflected in the house in which a great many design pieces are also one-off art site specific pieces. Artists such as Nathalie du Pasquier, Frances Pritchard and Nando Vigo are represented in the house, with items such as the marble fireplace in the master bedroom, or the vanity in the bathroom. The choice of the interior furnishings was also made with an eye to selecting mainly pieces from women designers, from the well-known furniture by Charlotte Perriand down to the Kasthall rug designed by Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg.
The house is designed as a “Gallery -Home”, both aspects being central to the client’s lifestyle where family values bind with her knowledge of art to create an amazing space. The art is “re-hung” often to rotate the different pieces of the collection in storage. The central staircase was designed with exactly this objective in mind, with carefully lit niches in which to show the artwork.
